Pinterest Personalized Pins

Pinterest announced on Friday that it is rolling out new features/improvements to their service.

  • Edit Button to take control of what you get to see, or not (Follow/Unfollow Boards) as well as how you see it displayed in your feed.
  • You can also select to get personalized pins and boards based on websites you go to that have the Pin It button (detailed info at Help Center or updated privacy policy).
Set to be available in "the next few weeks", these proposed changes could create some privacy concerns; although there has been confirmation that Pinterest will update its privacy policies.

Take a look at the original post by Pinterest, by clicking on the 'continue reading' link below and share your thoughts on the new features and how they will affect user experience as well as privacy concerns.

Pinterest Post: Making Pinterest a bit more personal

We want you to feel like Pinterest is really yours—so in the next few weeks we’ll be trying out new ways to help you see more pins you love, and fewer you don’t.

Here’s what’s coming:

A new Edit button…

Use the Edit Your Home Feed button to get your feed just how you want it, from the web or your phone. Go to Follow Boards to see stuff you might like based on what you’ve been pinning. (So if you pins lots of outdoorsy stuff, we’ll try to show you rock climbing, kayaking or backpacking boards. And the more you pin, the better our recommendations will get!) Or, go to Unfollow Boards to stop seeing stuff you’re not that into anymore.

May we suggest…

If you’re interested, we’ll also suggest personalized pins and boards based on websites you go to that have the Pin It button. So if you’re planning a party and have gone to lots of party sites recently, we’ll try to suggest boards to make your event a hit. You can learn more about personalized pins and boards in our Help Center or updated privacy policy.
We’re excited to give everyone a more personalized experience, but we also understand if you’re not interested! We support Do Not Track, and you can change your account settings anytime.

Here’s to a homier home feed!

We’ll keep working to help you see more stuff you love when you come to Pinterest. Meanwhile, we hope you like the updates!
